CHAPTER 01

Start here

Three apps. One restaurant workflow.

This guide is for the people taking orders, collecting payment, and preparing food. Start with setup for a new installation, or jump straight to your role.

About the screenshots

Captured from this repository’s actual Flutter screens, running in three isolated browser previews on 5 November 2026. “Resay Sample Kitchen,” menu items, orders, customer details, and balances are examples. Browser previews use memory storage and sample providers. Android sign-in, Viva Terminal, physical printing, and LAN discovery need the installed Android apps.

Based on the layout of the Resay beginner’s guide. This edition covers the three Loyverse apps in this project.

CHAPTER 03

First-time setup

Connect the account, check the store, and prepare each device.

Before opening the apps

Have the Loyverse owner account, the correct store, working internet, a trusted restaurant network, and the Android devices ready. For card sales, install the matching Viva Terminal app and complete your merchant setup.

Prepare your catalog in Loyverse

Check categories, fixed-price variants, modifiers, taxes, and store availability. Products sold by weight or requiring a cashier-entered price are omitted from the customer kiosk.

  2. When returned to setup, choose the correct Loyverse store and Payment type for Viva sales. Check the currency and terminal environment.
  3. Complete the receipt printer, kitchen printer, and review steps. Optional printers can be left unconfigured.
  4. On the POS, use its own Sign in with Loyverse flow and choose the same merchant and store.

What happens next
The device remembers the saved connection. Continue with the register and kitchen links below.

POS / SCREEN GUIDE

Connect the cashier POS

New installation → Connect Loyverse

CHAPTER 04

Connect the devices

Use the same merchant, store, and trusted restaurant network.

Make the POS available to the kiosk

  1. Open the POS. At startup, tap Make this POS available, then Continue to cashier. You can also manage this under Settings → Kiosk connections.
  2. Open or restart the kiosk. In Select active POS, choose the intended register.
  3. For a new connection, tap Allow kiosk on the POS. The approval is remembered.
  4. Keep the POS open and visible during service. If the kiosk finds no register, retry on POS and tap Scan again on the kiosk.

Browser capture · sample data · select to enlarge
  1. Open the kitchen display on the kitchen tablet, then select Connect devices.

What happens next
Each ordering device has a saved kitchen connection. Use a test ticket to verify the complete link.

Network details for the person setting up the router

KDU uses local HTTP 8787 and UDP discovery 8788. POS kiosk reception uses HTTP 8790 and UDP discovery 8791. Allow devices to communicate within the trusted LAN; guest Wi-Fi isolation can prevent discovery. The local link is unencrypted and should stay on the restaurant network.

CHAPTER 05

Set up and test printing

Check the receipt and kitchen roles independently.

KIOSK / SCREEN GUIDE

Review the startup printer screen

Kiosk startup → Check your printers

Browser capture · sample data · select to enlarge
  1. In the Receipt tab, choose the printer connection. Not configured leaves that optional printer disabled.
  2. For a network printer, enter the printer address and port; raw TCP commonly uses port 9100. For USB or Bluetooth, select the available device and grant Android permissions.
  3. Select the correct paper width and print a test. Confirm paper actually comes out and is readable.
  4. If you want food preparation tickets on the receipt printer, enable KDU print on receipt and test it.
  5. Open the Kitchen tab to configure a separate kitchen printer. Tap Save and open kiosk when finished.

Payment questions and recovery

Use the recorded result before trying again.

SituationWhat staff should do
Viva is in demo modeUse it for testing only. No money is charged, but a saved demo receipt affects Loyverse sales and stock. Confirm the environment before real service.
Cash has already been collectedConfirm receipt completion or use the recovery screen. Do not collect the same cash again just because the receipt is delayed.
Payment result is unknownKeep the pending transaction and its reference. Check Viva and Loyverse, then use the app’s recovery options. Do not start a fresh charge to test whether the first one worked.
Payment succeeded but no kitchen ticketInspect KDU delivery status and its retry queue. Restore the original kitchen connection and retry delivery; a second payment is not required.
Cash refund is requestedFind the original closed receipt and check that the supported single-cash-payment refund applies. If a refund result is uncertain, reconcile it before submitting another one.
Card refund is requestedRefund through the payment provider and reconcile in Loyverse. A local food-order cancellation does not itself return card funds.
Viva and Loyverse currencies differCheck configuration before a live sale. Unsupported Viva currencies may fall back to GBP with the same numeric amount; this is not exchange-rate conversion. Ask the administrator to resolve the mismatch.
CHAPTER 12

When something goes wrong

Start with the screen, power, network, and saved connection.

What you seeWhat to check
No active POS appearsKeep the POS open. Enable kiosk reception in Kiosk connections. Confirm the same store and network, retry on POS, then Scan again on kiosk. Check guest Wi-Fi isolation.
A delivered order is uncertainUse the existing recovery request. If the original POS address changed, use Find original POS. Do not send the same uncertain order to a different register.
No KDU is foundKeep the KDU open and connected. Check its LAN service, refresh discovery, and verify the trusted network. Confirm both apps are updated.
KDU says offlineCheck the kitchen device’s network and keep the app foreground. Reopen or retry the listener, then refresh the ordering device. Browser screenshots show this label because LAN hosting is unavailable there.
Printer sends but nothing printsCheck power, paper, cable or pairing, the chosen device, address/port, and paper width. Test the receipt and kitchen printers separately.
Menu or price has changedCheck the item’s store availability, fixed price, variant, taxes, and inventory in Loyverse. Refresh the menu and review the freshly validated total at checkout.
Sign-in or account access is blockedCheck internet and the selected restaurant account. For managed devices, ask the administrator to check SaaS URL, device enrollment, and subscription status.
A cancellation reaches the kitchenRead the changed or removed lines and coordinate with the cashier. Kitchen cancellation and payment refund are separate actions.
